As a woman you're always told to be assertive, but to still stay in a woman's place. Personally, I never found that place because I always knew I was my own leader. I have been taught to speak up for myself and be proud of who I am, but to never be too boastful.
I learned the hard way that the things you value the most can be taken away from you in the blink of an eye. Nearly losing my life on that fateful day in April changed me forever. Since that time, l have lived with deep, dark secrets I don't often speak about, along with internal scars to match my external ones.
I am so thankful that God chose me as a vessel to not only take this painful journey, but more importantly that he revealed my purpose through that pain. My prayer is that this book will offer readers a glimpse into the fast life I lived, which included unhealthy relationships, promiscuity, self-loathing, hustling, drug use, depression, and even domestic abuse. All these things have broken me emotionally, but at the same time have shaped and molded me into the person God meant for me to be.
At some point in our lives, we have to say enough is enough, and cease to live our lives by the circumstances that we been dealt. If we don't, we run the risk of destroying any chance we have of becoming GREAT! At 19, I had to learn to walk again, learn to use my hands, become comfortable with my face, and learn to be a mother again. I also had to learn to love myself after being trapped in a body that I hated. But God saved me, despite my willingness to die. I give God all the credit and the glory for brightening my days during darkness, trauma, and turmoil and for allowing me this opportunity to share my testimony with you!
