Glendall Toney was born November 20, 1951, to Ralph and Aretia Fae Toney, and grew up in a small Southern Illinois community called Mulkeytown. Both his father and grandfather were bi-vocational preachers, and he was raised in regular church and Sunday school attendance. He trusted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized in 1963. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from LeTourneau University, Longview, Texas, in 1973 with a major in mathematics. He and Janet Boldt were married June 14, 1974. They have two adult children, Chad and Gretchen, and three grandchildren. He worked as the American Baptist Campus Minister at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, from the fall of 1973 to the spring of 1976. He and his wife commuted from Carbondale to Cape Bible Chapel, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and were involved there until the summer of 1978. During that time they hosted a number of college students in their home for a Friday night Bible study and many of those students joined them in the drive to Cape on Sundays. The study group grew and became a Recognized Student Organization on the SIU campus known as Student Bible Fellowship. In December 1978 the elders of Cape Bible Chapel commended Glendall to the full-time service of the Lord, coinciding with the planting of a new church in Carbondale called Neighborhood Bible Fellowship. He has worked since then in personal discipleship and expository preaching ministry, serving as an elder in that congregation. During his career he has written personal expository preaching notes on the entire New Testament and several books from the Old Testament.
