Texas Roust About to Gold Miner to Pioneering Southeast Alaska
Frank Permenter was born high atop the New Mexico Continental Divide amongst the scrabble and sagebrush in a one-room rock dugout in the early winter of 1931.
Filled with an adventuresome and inquisitive spirit, Frank tramped from the Northwoods of Idaho to Texas where he was a 'roust about.' His wanderlust eventually led him to Alaska. There, amongst other things, he pioneered the propane gas trade in Southeast. Then excitement took him to the gold fields of northern British Columbia. Frank was a 'Mover and Shaker' on Prince of Wales Island in the Gulf of Alaska. Finally, he settled in Oregon but continued fulfilling his love to fish and travel.
