As if being on Mars was not isolating enough, Cloudy, JJ, Rose and Briggs are confined to their habitat as a dust storm of epic proportions engulfs the Red Planet. They have made a discovery that will change the course of history, but are now tasked with understanding an organism that is becoming increasingly incomprehensible. The team carefully studies a microscopic Alien life form brought up from the Valles Marineris trench, but are their Earthly precautions enough? The crew's mission becomes more and more dangerous as each new find turns out to be more terrifying than the last.
