Papers from a September 2001 workshop present recent research on molecular and nanocrystal-based multifunctional nanosystems. Sections cover modeling and simulation of nanoparticle and molecular nanosystems, nanotechnology of nanoparticle and molecular nanosystems, fundamental properties of nanosystems, experiments with single and assembled molecules, and multifunctional nanosystems. Some topics examined include carbon nanotubes under internal pressure, recognition templates for biomaterials with engineered bioreactivity, non-thermal plasma synthesis of nanocarbons, and thin film biothermosensors.
