English summary: In the 21st century the interconnectedness of world religions within the context of global dynamics has become self evident. The same also applies to Christianity. However, given still prevailing regional and national historical narratives, little is known of its historical development towards a global and pluralistically differentiated religion. This volume takes up this theme and provides the first comprehensive, interdenominational and interdisciplinary history of global Christianity in the German speaking countries from the 15th to the 19th century. Selected theologians and (church) historians reveal the key factors during the early modern period, which encouraged the global expansion and fascinating diversity of modern Christianity.
