Gioncavallo added "infiltrated a necromancers' circle" in his list of deeds, added "rejected soul" in his list of supernatural creatures that he has met, and is now about to add one more item in his list of things he has done unwillingly: "made a pact with a demon." His plan to infiltrate Limen Mortis, the Threshold of Death, a necromancers' circle, in order to further infiltrate the inner circle, the Profanum Profanorum, has succeeded. That plan was part of a bigger plan, to save the poor soul that had been rejected by the demon summoned by the Profanum Profanorum. It's finally time for that plan to progress to its final stage, fated to be lethal for the four necromancers.
But there are other players moving around Gioncavallo. Emanuele, Gioncavallo's mortal enemy, is in the same city as him. He's searching for the hero blacksmith, and won't rest until Gioncavallo lies dead by the lordling's own hand. Viviana, the witch who may or may not be in love with Gioncavallo, is desperately searching for him, though there's something blocking her powers. And the demon summoned by the Profanum Profanorum has an agenda of his own. Who shall manage to fulfill their plans? Who shall come out the winner and who shall meet their doom?
