This is a wonderful bedtime story to soothe your child to sleep with, and it was written by a licensed mental health counselor.
From the Author
This book was Inspired by the many, MANY sleepless nights of first raising my twin girls, followed by my third daughter whom this book is dedicated to and who I still co-sleep with to this day. Always searching for a remedy...a way to shorten the bedtime routine...a way for my Camryn to fall asleep faster and deeper in my arms before gently laying her down in her bed and sneaking out on tippy toes...
I started resorting to my meditation skills as a therapist to help her relax.
Every therapist has some version of a body scan in their toolbox, and I found adapting it in an age-appropriate way helped send her into dreamland faster.
Thus, the concept of this book was born. It is designed around the relaxation technique known as progressive muscle relaxation.
Presented in a child friendly way, it guides the reader through a head to toe body scan while expressing gratitude for all the wonderful things our bodies can do.
The end goal is teaching a young child how to do a body scan themselves in an effort to self soothe and bring about calmness in the body.
Thanking our body parts and having gratitude for each one of them is not just for children! Mom and Dad should try laying in bed one night after their littles are asleep and scanning their body from head to toe in gratitude.
The whole family can sleep better!
