English summary: Achim von Arnim and Clemens Brentano, the chief proponents of Heidelberg Romanticism, had already left the Neckar River city by 1808, yet their contact with the publishing firm of Mohr and Zimmer remained for some time thereafter. The two-part drama Halle und Jerusalem, a later work of Arnims that was completed in Berlin in 1811, is presented in this volume, which contains both parts. The first part is the dramatic piece, composed by Arnim during his university days at Halle called Cardenio und Celinde, which derived from the baroque poet Andreas Gryphius. The sequel presents the characters from the first part as pilgrims entering the Holy Land. As with other works from his Heidelberg period, Arnim pursued nationalist-political goals against the background of the French dominations following the victory of Napoleon.
