The First World War, known colloquially during the interwar period as the Great War, had ended unsatisfactorily for many parties. The vast industrial foundries of the world's powers were operating at maximum capacity, producing war materials in an out-of-control arms race that could only end in another world war. At the same time, many of the world's economies were in the grips of a global great depression, and rationing was sometimes common in even the most advanced countries. For the human race, it was a time of great scientific enlightenment in almost every facet of human existence. Humanity was learning about the fundamental physical forces that power the sun and the stars. Modern medicine was nascent, and the world's greatest scientists were just beginning to experiment with antibiotics. Great strides in biology advanced human understanding of bacteria, viruses, and even the little molecule known as DNA. Scientific inquiry was not always moral, though. Masked by a thin veneer of science, the delusional fever of eugenics and race-superiority that had been born at the turn of the century was reaching its horrid maturity in 1930s, and not just in Germany but throughout large parts of Europe, Japan, the United States and many other countries around the world. Multiple countries conducted horrid secret human experiments that only recently have begun to be uncovered. It was truly a world on the edge of catastrophes that modern day humanity wishes only to disremember. Take a step back from today's hustle & bustle, and slip away to the more innocent & romantic era of the 1930s. During this Interbellum, the dark ominous clouds of WWII loomed on the horizon. Escape with Madison and Frank as they race around the world to unearth the terrifying truth behind a secret Nazi and Japanese germ warfare program. Their travels will take them through unimaginably picturesque exotic island paradises and end in the impenetrable tropical jungles of the Congo. Along the way, they'll have to contend with dark forces: Nazi assassins, Japanese snipers, and slumbering volcanoes. They won't be alone; old Guardians of the Republic and new friends will stand up to help them. Adventure, intrigue, danger, and a splash of romance is around the corner.
