Douglas MacArthur's life was lived in the service of defending his country. Despite a physical handicap, he graduated at the top of his class from West Point and went on to build an exemplary military career. He heroically fought in two world wars in addition to many lesser, although deadly, national conflicts. He directed the Asian campaign during World War II, resulting in the ultimate defeat of the Japanese. Bravery, honor, and ability were the hallmarks of this fascinating adventure- filled life (18801964).
