How I Became a Tooth Fairy is a tale that brings the reader back to the very origins of a Tooth Fairy, taking them through extraordinary experiences and adventures which led a simple flower fairy to becoming the very first Tooth Fairy. This story was written for my oldest child when she lost her first tooth. She was five years old then. The book is broken down into ten short chapters that parents can easily read with their child every night, a chapter a night. This would also be a perfect read for elementary school children who may choose to read it on their own; it is easy to read and understand and is designed to help expend the child's vocabulary and force creativity and imagination in a child's mind, taking them on a ten-day adventure with a crippled Flower Fairy who eventually transforms into the original Tooth Fairy. The story itself carries a whiff of the original, darker fairytales such as those written by the brothers' Grimm, and teaches children six distinct lessons. The first lesson is that our physical impairments, whatever they may be, may slow us down, but if there is a will and a perseverance--they cannot stop us from becoming successful. The second lesson is that it's cruel to keep an animal indefinitely caged for personal entertainment and that it's important to take good care of your pats. The third lesson teaches children to never lose hope, despite the situation. The fourth lesson demonstrates the importance of perseverance. The fifth lesson instills in children an understanding that physical strength and size don't matter, because at the end of the day what really makes a difference is your inner strength and maturity. And the final lesson shows that one must beware of making deals with the wicked, because you risk becoming a slave to their greed forever. Have fun on this adventure!
