I never thought I'd be a victim of domestic violence. I grew up in a loving family and had a happy childhood. But when I met my husband, he quickly became controlling and abusive. I tried to leave him many times, but he always found a way to manipulate me into coming back. One day, after a particularly brutal beating, I finally found the strength to leave for good. With the help of my family, friends, and the Anson County Domestic Violence Council, I was able to rebuild my life. I'm still not sure where my journey will take me, but I know that I'm not alone. There are many other women who have been through what I've been through, and we're all in this to gether. This book is my story of hope and resilience. It's a story about how it's possible to overcome even the most difficult challenges. I'm just a country girl waiting on my day to go home. But until then, I'm going to keep fighting for my freedom and my happiness. 1 hope my story will inspire other women who are struggling with domestic violence to find the strength to leave and re build their lives.
