A few years ago a leading newspaper of this city, The Freeman's Journal, published a series of articles on I nter mediate Education in Ireland, which at the time attracted considerable attention. These articles were collected into a small volume and published in that form at the end of the year 1871. The Chief Secretary for Ireland having declared, in the House of Commons, on the 14th of this month, that Her Majesty's Government has before it a scheme for the settlement of the important question of Intermediate Education, the circumstances of the pre sent time seem to call for a republication of this most valuable and trustworthy work.
