By the time the Golden Age Comics arrived, George Carlson had already been two decaes known, for his books on cartooning, for illustrations in books and magazine, and most famously for the illustration on the original dust jacket of Gone With The Wind. Still, his materpieces are considered to be his work on two series in Jingle Jangle Comics: JINGLE JANGLE TALES and THE PIE-FACE PRINCE OF PRETZLEBURG. Though hard to describe, it was said that "Carlson's sophisticated Jingle Jangle fairy tales mixed burlesque, fantasy, and wordplay with his own brand of nonsense in multi-layered features of visual and verbal harmony." Well, what could someone add to that, except that Carlson was paid a slim $25/page and handled every aspect of the stories --- writing, pencils, inks, and often lettering and coloring – these are true showcases of his masterful offbeat talents. Jingle Jangle Comics ran for 42 issues (1943-1949) and it is safe to say that without George Carlson, it simply would not be. This first volume brings you both great series', in chronological order, from Jingle Jangle Comics #1-18! PUBLISHED BY GWANDANALAND COMICS P.O.
