The Katalog der Handschriften der Innsbrucker Universitats- und Landesbibliothek (ULBT), a scientific manuscript catalogue in line with the guidelines of the Kommission fur Schrift- und Buchwesen des Mittelalters of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, was established in 1987. Up to this point, eight volumes have been published, all edited under the direction of Dr. Walter Neuhauser, and the last six within the framework of projects financed by the Fonds zur Forderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung in Osterreich (FWF). In contrast to the former volumes, the present ninth volume of the series lays special emphasis on modern German manuscripts. As a result of the less extensive requirements for descriptions of modern manuscripts, we were able to extend the number contained in this catalogue to 150 (compared to 100 in the earlier volumes). This volume contains many works more typically found in archives, such as transcripts and source books. Once more, the focus of these works is on modern Tyrolean history. Among these are unedited or only partially edited chronicles, including those by Marx Sittich von Wolkenstein (Cod. 821, 822, 874, 875), Christoph Wilhelm Putsch (Cod. 825, 826) and Maximilian von Mohr (Cod. 824, 824b, 878, 899). Many codices deal with the quarrels between the two Hochstifte of Brixen and Trient with the land of Tyrol regarding their independence. Of special importance are a series of twenty-two works, both autographs and copies, by Anton Roschmann (1694-1760), polymath and first librarian of the University Library of Innsbruck. Two valuable medieval manuscripts also deserve special attention: Cod. 900, an illustrated codex of the "Renner" by Hugo von Trimberg, and Cod. 922, the only full text of a legislative book known as "Deutschenspiegel". The volume comes complete with two indices (incipits and names) as well as an appendix.
