This is the third volume of my poetry, which I have published and this one contains 28 poems, most of them are a page in length. On the mountaineering front I would be on five expeditions to the greater ranges between 1995 and 2000. Tien Shan (1995), Cordillera Central in Peru (1997), Greenland (1998, Hindu Kush in Pakistan (1999) and Aconcagua for the millennium. In 1995 a couple of my close friends Pete Sibley and Terri Jeffcoate tied the knot and I was privileged to be there. For that occasion I decided to write a poem about them and read it at the reception (Two). The trip to the Kaingdy valley in the Tien Shan provide material for the following poems: - 'The Steppes of Asia'; 'Kaingdy', 'Leaving a city', 'Looking back', 'What do we do now'? And 'Departure'.Peruvian experiences are recalled in 'modern day conquistadors' and 'Waiting', whilst 'Greenland is self-explanatory.My visits to the Alps inspired more words in the form of 'Reflections in height', I love Chamonix', 'Thoughts in Chamonix'; Wipe your arse on a tea bag; (we ran out of toilet paper so had to resort to using tea bags) and 'Familiar territory.Personal relationships came under the microscope with 'It's not my intention, 'For a friend', Experience' and 'Seven'.
