In religious education today, children are increasingly seen as subjects of their own theological reflections. What has become known as theology for children sets out from the premise that children not only ask theologically relevant questions, but they are able to reason them out on their own and find answers, too. On the basis of this change of perspective to that of a child, this book addresses a very central theme in Christian theology: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Its survey of religious education in practice nevertheless reveals that this theme is frequently skipped or avoided because teachers find it too difficult or not suitable for children. This raises the question whether children are able to discuss such a difficult theme adequately. Moreover, how do children comprehend the resurrection? The author pursues these questions by analysing conversations with primary school children about central biblical texts on the resurrection and evaluating them in exegetical and systematic theological terms. The author draws inferences from the results about how children conceive of the resurrection, and concludes by presenting consequences for practical application. German text.
