The Legend of Suriyothai director Chatreechalerm Yukol takes the helm for this ambitious and sweeping two part epic tracing the incredible life story of King Naresuan (Sawasdee Wanchana), who valiantly defended Thailand from Burmese invaders at the end of the 16th Century. Part one tells the story of Naresuan's early life, and the events that would shape him into one of Thailand's most celebrated heroes. Born in 1555, Naresuan was just seven years old at the time his country was invaded by Burmese King Bayinnaung. In order to ensure Naresuan's father would remain subservient to his occupiers, King Bayinnaung abducted the child prince. Over the course of the next seven years, King Bayinnaung trained young Naresuan in the art of politics and warfare, eventually returning him to his family in exchange for Naresuan's sister.
