Kurt Frhr. von Lersner was an officer between the German Foreign Office and the Imperial Chancellor on the one side and the German High Command and Emperor William I on the other. In 1919 he was a member of the German peace delegation at Versailles that had to implement the voluminous articles of the peace. His memoirs offer a deep insight into the chronical conflicts between Germany's political and military leadership during the war.
