Ducks, loons, wild turkeys and other waterfowl combine forces against evil Swan Hildegard and her Canada geese army. Set on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire during WWII, this graphic novel features beautiful illustrations, great characters and a funny storyline.
Swan Hildegard has recently escaped from the Russian Grand Duchess Molodovich, a Lake Winnipesaukee resident. The swan has grand plans which include the building of a castle and ruling the local birds with a "velvet touch." With her Canada geese army she captures the birds of Ragged Island and puts them to work building her castle.
Our heroes, Poke the loon, Dawdle the merganser duck and Gib the wild turkey escape and hatch a plan for rescuing their friends. Meanwhile the duchess searches for Hildegard.
All of the action is observed and reported by a celebrity bird watcher, Miss Beasley Sweeney.
Perfect for ages 8 and up.
