Lao's story: People say that I am pretty, but they don't mean it. How can they? If I lived in Hawaii with my ohana, my size wouldn't matter, but my largeness defines me here in the states. I try to learn everything I can about my Polynesian heritage, but my overly-Christian dad sees my makuahine's side as pagan. If my dad didn't expect me to be perfect, then maybe I could enjoy life. I will never make that man happy.
The Pathway of Light Series follows four youths through the struggles of everyday life. These teens interact with each other in all four stories, but they have a powerful tale of their own. Each teen will come to a crossroads where they must pick a path. Will they choose the path that will lead to pain, or will they follow the path that leads to growth?
The author has firsthand experience working in youth and adult corrections and has witnessed the devastating impact of seemingly harmless decisions. Often, a single life-altering choice can have massive consequences. As dreams shatter, the offender would give anything to change their past to make a better decision.
This unique series allows the reader to watch the devastation when the protagonist picks the path with darkness. The reader will also experience the main character taking a different, more hopeful direction: the pathway of light.
