Siete familias, siete soberanos, seis ciudades.
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Seven families, seven monarchs, seven cities.
“An Italian
Game of thrones.
” —
Milan, Florence, Venice, Ferrara, Rome, Naples.
Italy in the fifteenth century is a land torn by war, intrigue, and betrayal, governed by sometimes cautious lords, but also thirsty for power and, occasionally, for blood. This is the story of the Italian Renaissance, a time that will mark the future of Europe.
In Milan, Filippo Maria, the last Visconti, after having had no sons, attempts to secure his legacy by marrying his young daughter to Francesco Sforza, a promising man of arms. Meanwhile, he tries to bribe the Count of Carmagnola into attacking the Condulmer, the Venice patricians. The Venetians repel the attack and gain the coveted Roman throne through Pope Eugene IV, regardless of the straightforward opposition from the Colonna family. The support of the Medici, the double-dealings of the Saboya, the confrontations between the Angevin and the Aragonese in the South, in a war that becomes more brutal each day, and Spain’s and France’s progression on the continent’s board of treaties and alliances set the stage for seven dynasties willing to do anything to keep their own people in power.
