Leadbetter's Luck is a tale of lumbering in the age of the new science of forestry. A fictional tale it tells of the encounter of an early forester who went up against the lumber bosses of the time. Set around 1900, a recent college graduate forester encounters resistance from a large corporation boss. He finds a few friends in the most unusual circumstances. But will those friends be enough to overcome the powers-that-be in the lumbering country of the Maine north woods and their set ways?
This Maine Classic Annotated Edition includes annotations about the story, historical notes, and background on the location in Maine.
