This double album from the label marks not only the 100th anniversary of 's birth but also the first release of the 's new conductor (as of 2023), . and this ensemble, founded in the 1970s by , have had a relationship of long standing, and this release by no means supersedes those with and others at the helm. However, the double album offers a fresh group of 's concertos and chamber music, with tight, cohesive performances throughout. The most prominent feature of the program is that it gives equal weight to all the periods of 's career rather than prioritizing the high modernist music of the '60s and '70s. Violist holds the listener's attention in the complex (" ") of 1994. A welcome addition to shelves or hard drive partitions. ~ James Manheim
