The classic story of the Potter and the Clay in Isaiah 64 is retold from the standpoint of the clay. Four little lumps of clay sit on a shelf in Joshua's Pottery Shop waiting to be made into something. One is enamored with the desire for beauty, one is insistent on power and strength, while another looks to significance and importance for validation. But the fourth little lump of clay is wise, and waits for the potter's master touch, happy to be whatever he will make of him. In this rendition of the story children also see the futility of silly arguments, and the danger of pride. Contentment and meaning is truly found in being what the potter intends the clay to be.
