Replacing the brash electronics, big drums, and slick production of megastar 's teen-aimed pop with classical stringed instruments and gentle bell tones might seem like a stretch, but even absent 's soaring vocals, works well as it transforms her heartbroken pop melodrama into something soothing. Big hits from like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble" undergo huge changes from blaring pop to softly melodic fare, and tracks like "Love Story" that were already a little more low-key ease nicely into the semi-classical instrumental form designed for fussy babies instead of self-aware tweens. ~ Fred Thomas
