The Escape NYC's Most Violent Private Detective Breaks Free The time frame of The Escape takes place in 2005, and Mike is now 68 years old. He has continued working in the private detective field. His body has been shot, stabbed, and beaten up so many times that he is considering retiring, and leaving the decay and cold weather of the Big Apple. His soul mate, Lola, is urging him to move to the tropical paradise of Florida. Mike is also smitten with the idea, especially after vacationing at "The Villages," a crime-free hamlet in the center of the Sunshine State. Lola's caustic Mom throws a wrench in the works. Mike also has a couple of jobs he needs to clean up before leaving the city. Does he actually retire? Does he actually leave N.Y.C.? The two jobs he needs to wrap up are no pieces of cake. One of the jobs reveals the underbelly of the "Faith Healing" world. With advanced technology and investigative methods Maddog exposes scandal and disgrace. The result raises public outrage. The second job... well, just hold on to your hat. As far as "blood and guts" are concerned, this is not for the Mary Poppins reader. The question is...does Mike even live long enough to retire?
