King Lee and Queen Irene are the rulers of Springville. They have a daughter named Martha, who is a very shy and mild mannered girl. They are very overprotective of her. Martha spends all of her time secluded on her leaf all day and night. Her parents are always busy so, their servant Nick frequently checks up on Martha. Nick encourages Martha to do more childlike things like play around but Martha just sits on her leaf all day. After many attempts to help Martha, Nick becomes tired and he doesn’t bother her about it anymore. One day an angel comes to Springville and her name is Mary. Mary is a beautiful butterfly that loves roses. One morning Mary comes to talk to Martha and they quickly become fond of each other. The two become best friends and they talk girl talk and sing songs all day. One day Mary comes to get Martha for a girls day out and when she tries to get Martha to come down from her life, Martha tells her that she hasn’t been off her leaf since she was a small child and that she was afraid to jump down. After a couple of hours of pleading, Martha jumps down. When he hits the ground the two girls play the rest of the day. Martha says that she never felt so alive in her life and that she never would have had this feeling if she hadn’t took her leap of faith.
