In book one of the four book series, Will awakens to find himself thrust into a life and death struggle against renegade Indians in a small wagon train headed to Oregon. His parents have died on the trip and now he now is fighting for his life against renegade Indians, outlaws, and nature itself, for his very survival. To complicate matters, the only other survivor is Esther, a young orphan girl that was sold by an orphanage to the people she was travelling with, that are now dead. How they face their day to day struggles together for survival and with only their wits and their faith in each other to support them is what awaits the reader in this saga of adventure set on the Oregon Trail in the 1800's.
