At the behest of his masters, a young knight named Senecharnix leaves the bucolic splendor of home and joins a shadowy organization. Such is supposedly connected to elements of his nation's government that are desperate to prepare for a civil war against insidious elements of the government. Within its murk and haze, Senecharnix trains to become a secret agent. He then goes on missions of assorted dangers. Meanwhile, he becomes involved with some very strange women. They entertain great ambitions in his honor, and so, conspire to nudge and drag him toward his supposed destiny, which they deem grand beyond his wildest dreams. He is not so certain about that and other matters.
