Like most artists, isn't particularly well-served by a greatest-hits collection, since their brevity and haphazard sampling tends to obscure the scope and depth of his artistry. Nevertheless, works better than expected, featuring such classics as and These tracks might not fully capture the essence of ' records -- and it doesn't necessarily function as a good introductory sampler, since it's presented out of chronological order and his music works better in the context of its original session -- but the music itself is wonderful. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
