Mr Grumpy was so grumpy that the birds didn't fly into his yard. Dogs crossed the road rather than pass too closely. Mr Grumpy didn't welcome or speak nicely to anyone or anything. If Mr Grumpy had another name, people had forgotten it because he had been grumpy for so long.
