On July 29, 1968, six distinguished scientists, including J. Allen Hynek, Carl Sagan, and James E. McDonald, met before the Committee on Science and Astronautics, in the House of Representatives at Washington, D.C. In addition, six scientists of note, including Stanton T. Friedman and Robert L. Hall, were invited to submit prepared statements to the committee to be entered into the Congressional record.
This meeting of prestigious scientific-minded individuals, held under the moniker, "Symposium on Unidentified Flying Objects," ran for an entire day and included numerous question-and-answer periods, along with several free discussions amongst the participants, who ranged from ardent true believers, to lukewarm UFO "agnostics," to hostile non-believers.
Many will assume that the information discussed at this 56 year old conference is now thoroughly out of date. But as the award-winning editor, UFO researcher, UFO eyewitness, and UFO author Lochlainn Seabrook shows in his in-depth book
Mysterious Invaders
, the opposite is true. Due to entrenched scientific skepticism and fear of public ridicule, almost no advancement in our knowledge of UFOs has occurred since 1968! This makes this unique, illustrated book edition of the symposium-filled with both vital and fascinating material on what our 20th-Century scientists called "the UFO Problem"-an all-important work on early UAP research that every student of astronomy and ufology will want in their collection.
Seabrook includes a helpful introduction, source notes, a comprehensive index, an all-inclusive bibliography, and detailed appendices. Pick up your copy and learn the truth about "flying saucers" from those who scientifically studied them during the 1950s and 1960s and chronicled their shocking findings in this still highly relevant material.
