A difference was that there were no hit singles on the order of or either in terms of chart performance or hooky quality. As a result, the album's less worthwhile than its predecessor, and just doesn't measure up to the more substantial groups of the era, whether ones. Certainly, fans of typically '60s harmonies, artful production, and crafty integration of acoustic and electric dynamics with a wide range of instruments will find much to enjoy. But the songs aren't too substantial. It does include a - collaboration, that never put out on release, though 's group, , did put out a version. About the best of the lot are which (whether intentionally or not) sounds quite a bit like 1966 , and which is tougher than most of their output. There's also a rather wacky cover of ' complete with the cheesy twanging sitar that decorated several of 's songs. The 2001 CD reissue on adds nine bonus tracks, including four 1966-1967 outtakes, four songs from 1967-1968 singles, and a couple of commercials they recorded on the side. ~ Richie Unterberger
