Sam and Lorenzo (Rez) have been best friends since school days. Sam comes out to Rez when he is sixteen, The years pass and Sam goes off to university where he is free to explore his sexuality. He meets lots of new people, many of them from the colourful LGBT scene in the city, and when a drag performer lends him some costumes and makeup, he begins to wonder about his gender identity. One day he discovers that within him is Samantha, and he starts to tentatively embrace this new side of himself, not knowing or caring whether it makes him trans, non-binary or anything of the other many possible labels. Rez comes to see Sam at University unannounced and discovers his friend as Samantha Fearing he is losing his best friend and influenced by too much alcohol and a confrontation with an odious party-goer, they kiss. Confusion reigns as neither of them know how to accept what happened, what it means for them or their relationship. Lorenzo leaves, feeling conflicted not knowing if he had been attracted to Sam or Samantha. With their long friendship under threat Rez struggles with his own sexuality as he realises he's falling in love with Sam.
