One Crow Shy of a Full Murder is the first of a series of stories dealing with a super race of crows. It is a tragic comedy of sorts, infused with elements of science fiction and horror. Telling this story almost entirely from a crow's point of view created many challenges for me as a writer. How does a crow see the world? That's hard to say, but the more we study other species, the more we find that they share many if not all of the same emotions we experience. Working in agriculture for over thirty years has put me in close proximity to crows. I've watched them and they have watched me. I've seen them do some amazing things, including training and killing other species. They are very family oriented, typically mating for life, with sons and daughters from previous broods helping to raise subsequent generations. And they seem to communicate complex information in ways that go far beyond their caws and croaks. While writing in a crow's point of view created challenges for me, my hope is that for you, my reader, discovering the world through a crow's eyes will be as entertaining as the story itself.
