The catalogue raisonné of the paintings, drawings, and watercolors of the Expressionist, Otto Mueller, first published in 2003, is now available in a greatly expanded edition. Despite his membership in the “Die Brücke” Expressionist movement, Mueller developed his own individual style. His oeuvre is independent and unmistakable, stunningly complex, multilayered and differentiated. Otto Mueller variegates sensitive images of bathers, nudes, and portraits both in interior settings and outdoors, and possessed a distinctive empathy for the life conditions of the Roma. Regardless of his subjects, he concentrated uncompromisingly on a few specific themes.
