Pearl was fit to be tied. Her neglectful parents could not care less that her younger sister Sylvia has once again run away from home. Determined to find her Sylvia, Pearl steals her father's wagon and goes to look for her, only to crash miles from home. She becomes even more exasperated when a strange and handsome man emerges from the darkness, offering to help.
His name was Silas. And she shudders when she realizes that he may be the man on the run for escaping the Sanders twins. Maybe he had kidnapped her sister as well? "I promise Sylvia is safe," he said. "I can take you to her, if you like. It's not too far."
She was wandering right into a trap, that was so painfully clear - but with her only transport broken and no other alternative, Pearl agreed. "All right - but this doesn't mean I trust or believe you. I just want to see my sister again."
Silas nodded, so peaceful and understanding. Pearl didn't know if it put her at ease or made her even more suspicious. "I suppose that's understandable. Now follow me."
Against her better judgement, Pearl did just that...And she would soon find out that Silas was the exact opposite of what the townspeople and sheriff thought of him...
