Even as a little peachick, Penny the Peahen knew she was different: she can fly and the others can't. It isn't until one day when she notices the yard birds outside of her pen that she realizes she can do something special. She begins to mimic the birds she sees outside her pen but soon realizes she isn't able to fly just like the cardinals or pecks the trees like the woodpeckers. It isn't until she sees a rafter of turkeys, strutting through the trees and flying up into the tree line that she knows how to spread her wings and fly. As she learns to model after the turkeys, her desire to become one of them creates another opportunity for Penny to embrace her difference in a group, and see how those differences make her special.
