(This is Volume 2 of a three-volume set.) The Phrase-by-Phrase Harmony of the Gospels presents a visual, side-by-side arrangement of every phrase of the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, in chronological order. Building on the foundation of centuries of great Bible scholarship, this is a new and unique approach to studying the events of the gospels in detailed chronological order. Rather than presenting entire passages from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in whole paragraphs, this harmony permits the reader to compare each individual fact and detail side by side in table format. Every phrase of every gospel is aligned side by side with the corresponding phrases in the other gospels. Each event of the gospels includes its own geographical map and graphical timeline to assist the reader in keeping track of where and when each event occurred, along with archaeological or historical notes wherever applicable. For each event, a blended narrative is provided, which contains every fact and detail of all four gospels merged into a single, readable, chronological account. Author commentary clarifies difficult or problematic texts. An appendix contains cross-referenced lists to enable the reader to quickly locate any passage of scripture in the Harmony. While this series makes an excellent devotional guide for individual daily Bible reading, it is extremely well suited for Bible study groups who meet weekly, due to its section-by-section, bite-sized approach to a complete read-through of the gospels. The book is approachable and easy to use, but also sufficiently technical to be helpful to pastors, teachers and professors as a reference book or supplementary college text.
