The current book is the second edition of Pollito's Angel, originally presented in the first volume of Healing Hearts of Nature: Five Therapeutic Fables for Children. It is ideal for children aged 8-11 and is intended to assist parents and caretakers in discussing some of the common concerns that children experience related to bullying; whether they are victims of bulling or they, themselves, bully others. Since children at times feel uncomfortable in initiating conversations with their parents about their concerns, fables and stories provide the ideal means for children to portray their feelings and their opinions unto the characters, while obtaining a guide on how to deal with some of these struggles. Through the experiences of the dove, Pollito, the current story helps children to build empathy for others, recognize possible consequences of their behavior, initiate expression of their concerns, and develop assertiveness skills. Although children can read the story on their own, the series emphasizes the benefit of having at least one adult involved in order to facilitate the dialogue and thus, the therapeutic process. To assist with this, the current book includes a Mini-Companion Workbook for caretakers and professionals with discussion questions and main themes that can be used as a reference if so desired. Other books in the Series assist with: Divorce Grieving Rebelliousness Lack of self-esteem Lack of assertiveness skills
