In 2009 an idea took shape, that had come up several times in the history of the Porsche company – the idea of a powerful four-door touring sedan with sporty genes. The prototype 989 almost got there in 1988, but for strategic reasons Porsche did not start batch production. It would take more than 20 years before the vision was transformed into reality – with the Porsche Panamera. The design of this fourth series is similar to the Porsche Cayenne - and it's no coincidence. The Cayenne was the first serial Porsche with more than two doors and it paved the way for the layout with a water-cooled front engine and rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The Panamera supplemented this features with a super sporty handling, that put it close to the 911, and with a luxurious interior, that made it a rolling business lounge. The second generation from 2016 refined the product in every respect and added to the range of engines through progressive hybrid technology. This is the first comprehensive book on one of the most successful Porsches, from the first ideas in the 1950s until today – to the Panamera G2, an immensely popular Porsche in many countries worldwide, whether as a sedan or the Panamera Sport Turismo.
