Why did I feel that it was incredibly important to change the title of an updated, post COVID-19, edition of my 2020 book, "Winners" and "Losers" in the Ongoing Battle to Protect and Control the Spectacular Water Wilderness of Havasu Canyon? Although starting in 1976 with the first draft of the government's Secretarial Land Use Plan, promises were made to the tribe for many sorely needed improvements in the newly added land east of Supai such as paved roads, modern housing, and a much better educational environment for their children, as you will see in the newly added Chapters 9, 10, and 11, none of these promises have been kept! Nor has the government done very much to solve other increasingly serious, often deadly, hazards to the welfare and security of all those both tribal and non-tribal individuals living in Supai or visiting the waterfalls as clearly documented in the unfinished November 21, 2022 Havasupai Tribe Hazard Mitigation Plan.
