ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
A town which feels sovereign.
A kingdom divided in two.
A great literary fresco about the Revolt of the Comuneros.
It is the year 1520. While Carlos I was in Germany being crowned emperor, the Castilian people rose in revolt, claiming to have more power against the king and starting the War of the Communities of Castile.
The entire kingdom is embroiled in this fierce conflict. Guadalajara is defender of the Crown in southern Castilla, while Madrid and Toledo are the main cities on the side of the Comuneros. In Alcalá de Henares, located at the heart of the conflict, serious tensions spawned.
The events and activities of two neighboring families guide us through the turbulence of those dangerous times: military clashes, espionage, political intrigues, betrayals ... Men and women, nobles and commoners, officers and soldiers, clergy and artisans, all walk through these pages: through them we will experience the hopes and fears of an exciting and turbulent time.
This is the story of a conflict that divided a kingdom into two. On one side were those who wore the white cross and supported the king. On the other, those who embroidered the red cross on their chest. This story arises from their freedom and their struggles.
