《千家诗》分四卷，共选诗人122家，226首诗，其中唐代65家，宋代53家，明代2家，无名氏2家，均为五言、七言律诗和绝句。所选的诗歌多为唐宋时期的名家名篇，易学好懂，题材多样，包括山水田园、赠友送别、思乡怀人、吊古伤今、咏物题画、侍宴应制等，较为广泛地反映了中国国代唐宋时代的社会风貌。本书对每首诗进行了详细的注释和解析。
"A Thousand Poems" consists of four volumes, with 122 poets and 226 poems, including 65 from the Tang Dynasty, 53 from the Song Dynasty, 2 from the Ming Dynasty, and 2 anonymous poets, all of which are five-character and seven-character regular verses and quatrains. The selected poems are mostly famous poems from the Tang and Song dynasties, easy to learn and understand, with a variety of themes, including landscapes and countryside, gifts to friends and farewells, homesickness, mourning the past and the present, chanting objects and painting, serving at banquets and responding to orders, etc., which widely reflect the social outlook of the Tang and Song dynasties in China. This book provides detailed annotations and analysis for each poem.
