Betsalel, the Shadow God, has regained his position as part of the pantheon in the Gaspari Dominion. But now the murderous cult that usurped his temples in the sprawling southern kingdom of Palambo has spawned an evil daimon, taking over his idols and demanding human sacrifice. Once again he calls on teenage Leila, former thief and now his arch priestess, to act as his agent. Armed with new god-given powers, she must travel across the breadth of the kingdom in disguise and somehow find a way to stop the cult.
