This book was made as a companion to Rad American Women A-Z: Rebels, Trailblazers, and Visionaries who Shaped Our History . . . and Our Future! Written by Kate Schatz and illustrated by Miriam Klein Stahl. It is a great book for people of all ages. After enjoying it for years, I finally realized it provides the perfect platform to practice reading comprehension. As a test prep coach, I realize many of the passages in tests are, um... boring! So why not prepare for a test and learn about some rad women with awesome illustrations?
So you need this workbook and the book: Rad American Women A-Z by Kate Schatz. Pick a rad woman, read the passage, and then answer the corresponding questions in this book. You can check your answers in the back.
Reading comprehension is a component in the ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, SAT, ACT, GRE and a myriad of other fun and exciting standardized tests. There are certain types of questions you see over and over and practice actually helps. Some of the questions are straight-forward and some are awkward and annoying. Many times the answers themselves are confusing and weird. This book was written in order to help students of all ages to gain experience in answering these kinds of questions.
Because this book contains only reading comprehension questions, you can pair it with any test you are studying for (lucky you!) You can answer the questions all in one day, one passage a day, two a week - whatever works for you. Experiencing the same kind of questions and the same traps, you'll learn how to spot the traps and avoid them like a pro. Testing is just a game - maybe a boring, tedious one - but nothing more. Standardized tests do not measure your intellect or worth. You just need to learn to play the game. This book makes it easier.
