Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder are some of the most deadly "mental illnesses;" however, research into the nature of these conditions and possible treatments remains virtually unfunded. As a result, there is no standard model of treatment for eating disorders and no definitive information on the number of people in the U.S. who suffer from one or more of these conditions.
