Set in the nostalgic 1940's, this play-within-a-play takes the audience on a magical ride between reality and fantasy. The vibrant songs range from boogie-woogie to romantic to patriotic to the sizzling Latin beat. Onstage, the actors are rehearsing a lighthearted musical, Radio Rhythm. Backstage the actors' lives are not as simple as the optimistic characters they play. Gabriel is a struggling producer depressed over his failures and loss of his son at Pearl Harbor. As a last ditch effort, he is producing Radio Rhythm in a rundown New York theater. His counterpart in the fantasy is Bernie Bernard, the neurotic manager of K.L.O.V., a radio station near Los Angeles. To launch the station, Bernie invites the Latin hot tamale, Lupe Lopez, to perform along with six winners of a talent contest. Bernie's plans for the big broadcast go haywire when Nails Diamond and his machine-gun toting gang take over the radio station. The sarcastic Jimmy is Gabriel's assistant in real life. He has many jobs to keep the show (and Gabe) going. In the musical, Jimmy plays different roles from a smooth talking bandleader to a cocky gangster to the hot tamale herself. The backstage drama includes Susan and Niles, a married couple who have lost their careers and romance. In the musical, Susan plays an enterprising sales girl on the brink of success. Niles plays Nails Diamond who doesn't take 'no' for an answer. In the backstage drama, there's also Rosabelle, an ex-vaudeville stripper and Murray, a comedian, she knew in the past. Rosabelle is a woman down on her luck. Murray is an alcoholic. In the musical, Rosabelle plays a gutsy waitress dreaming of a family. Murray plays a brave police officer. Charise is a young performer with big dreams and Harry is a young struggling actor. As Vicky and Vic in the musical, they are confident about their talent and future. Radio Rhythm has plenty of laughs, silly plot twists and a happy-ending. As for Lupe Lopez - whatever happened to her? In real life, the actors learn from their counterparts that the show must go on...and, despite adversity, so must they. (SOLD SEPARATELY) - CD WITH VOCALS/CD - INSTRUMENTAL/SCRIPT (EBOOK)/PERFORMANCE PACKAGE INCLUDES SCRIPT, SHEET MUSIC, AND PERMISSION FOR UNLIMITED PERFORMANCES.
